Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toniz Collins, also known as Antonietta Gonzalez-Collins in both the United States and Mexico, is an American-Mexican sportscaster. Her current role is a sportscaster for ESPN and is an anchor of SportsCenter reports and hosts SportsNation. Her first assignment with ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a television reporter. Antonietta Collins has been bi-lingual since nine years old, a valuable ability that allowed her to secure her first job in the production department for Univision in Miami that gave her the chance to be a part of the production team for National programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. After this it was announced that the CBS subsidiary located in St. Petersburg employed her as a reporter for sports. In 2009, she moved away from Texas in the Rio Grande Valley where she became a news correspondent for KNVO TV 48 Univision. The stories she wrote about covered immigration as well as drug trafficking and other issues on both the Texas and Mexico border. Also, she was the Spanish reporter on the newscast at 5 p.m. as well as anchor and reporter on the newscast from nine p.m. in English and again a Spanish reporter from 10 p.m. In addition, she was an anchor for sports anchors and weather forecasters. Deportes 23 in Dallas, Univision's station affiliated with Dallas. She was also given more duties. She reported on events like the Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and NBA Postseason and the finals of FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. The Univision 23 channel also produced her local sports channel Accion Deportiva Extra, on where she was anchor. Then, she became the sports host for the morning show of Despierta America Deportes. She held the same position for Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo on the UniMas Network. Antonietta's parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. The family were moved into Mexico City where she was born on the 22nd of November, 1985. There is a sister. She has an older sister. Then, shortly afterward the family split up, and in the year 1995, Fabio Fajardo was remarried. He died from kidney cancer in the year 2006. When on vacation Antonietta was staying at the house of her sister Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sister had just landed an offer to work. Antonietta was a senior high school student and was very aware of her career goals. She went to Mount Union University to find out if the school was suitable for her. At the end of the day she fell in love with the university. They also offered her a an academic major. Following the completion of her high school education she attended the University to pursue media studies. Professor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM, and was part of her class, formed an ongoing friendship with the student. It was he who inspired her confidence, and his passion for journalism deeply touched her. She strived to fulfill his expectations and never let him down.
